What is Big Sky 9's?
Mike is one of the best frisbee players to have played the game in Australia. Stacy is Mike's wife and soulmate. They were married just over a year ago.
In July this year Stacy Neild was diagnosed with MND. MND is a degenerative condition where nerves gradually lose the ability to communicate with muscles. Some people with MND may experience a slow degeneration with limited functional disruption, whilst others exeprience rapid loss of motor control, becoming bed ridden in a short period of time.
MND is typically fatal within 3 to 5 years.
This news is a terrible blow for Mike and Stacy, but they are committed to remaining positive and fighting it with everything they can.
But it wont be easy for them. And it wont be cheap.
They have already accrued significant medical and travel expenses, with most of the specialist treatment only available in Sydney.
The Big Sky 9's Tournament is a way in which the Qld and Australian frisbee communities can show their support for Mike and Stacy.
All profits from this tournament and associated fundraising activities will go to Mike and Stacy, with the immediate goal of funding a trip home to Montana (the big Sky state) for them to visit Stacy's parents.
The support of her immediate family is of critical importance to Stacy at this time.
Big Sky 9's is open to all players who want to attend.
The format may be a bit different but is intended to attract ALL players who are interested.
And it doesn't matter if you've never met Mike and Stacy.
This is guaranteed to be a fun and competitive frisbee tournament, and is being run for a great cause.
TDs - Mat, Sandra, Gen and Tony

Auction!
We have decided to run the auction through a blog site http://wgshirtauction.blogspot.com/ so that we can maximise the number of people involved and not pay a fee to a site like ebay - all money from the winning bid will go directly to Stacy and Mike's fund.
The auction will close at 8pm AEST WEDNESDAY 28th OCTOBER (unless a massive bid comes in just after the time in which case I reserve the right to make an executive decision to accept said massive bid). This is so we have time to organise the funds as part of the tournament and for the delivery of the shirt to the winning bidder.
As Tony Greig would surely say "this is a once in a life-time piece of sporting memorabilia" and all proceeds are going to a great cause - so get bidding folks!
For more details and instructions on how to bid, go to http://wgshirtauction.blogspot.com/ (link on the side)

Bending the rules
The spirit of the day is to ensure that as many people as possible can demonstrate their support for Mike and Stacy while participating on the field.
With this in mind, the organisers reserve the right to allow some exceptions to the roster size limitation rule. However, this is still intended to be a competitive Ultimate event. Seeking a competitive advantage through the addition of extra players is not considered to be within the spirt of the rules.
If you want to add extra players to your roster, please contact TD Mat Ryan for permission to do so.
Valid reasons for requesting additional players may include but are not limited to:
1. Where a player would choose to not play the tournament unless it was with a particular team (ie: did not have any associations with Ultimate outside that team).
Nb: it is assumed that strong/experienced players will have well established associations with many different groups, so it is unlikely that such a player would be enabled
2. Where a player can only play part of the tournament, another player can be picked up from the point that the first player finished.
